Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

  • Ground Turkey 165° F |

    Heat Rice and Start Vegetables

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave uncovered until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes.

    Fluff rice with a fork.

    While rice heats, trim and slice white portions of green onions into 1" pieces. Thinly slice remaining green portions of green onions on an angle. Keep white and green portions separate.

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Add peppers (if you receive a whole bell pepper, cut into 1/2" dice), white portions of green onions, half the green portions of green onions (reserve remaining for garnish), and diced white onions (if you receive a whole onion, cut into 1/4" dice) to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 6-8 minutes.

    If vegetables are browning too quickly, add 1/4 cup water and stir occasionally until water evaporates.

    While vegetables cook, continue recipe.

    Prepare Tofu and Heat Oil

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 3 Tbsp. olive oil.

    While oil heats, line a plate with a paper towel.

    Cut tofu into 1" dice and place on towel-lined plate. Top with paper towels, then press gently but firmly to remove excess moisture.

    In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic pepper, 1 tsp. pepper, and tofu. Toss gently until tofu is coated.

    Cook the Tofu

    Line another plate with a paper towel.

    Add tofu to hot pan with olive oil and stir occasionally until golden-brown, 4-5 minutes.

    Don't rush cooking the tofu; it will need the complete cooking time for the correct crispness.

    Remove from burner. Transfer to towel-lined plate and set aside.

    Add Sauce and Tofu and Finish Dish

    Add 1/4 cup water, garlic sesame sauce, and a pinch of salt to hot pan with vegetables. Stir occasionally until combined and sauce has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, 1-2 minutes.

    Add tofu and stir to combine. Remove from burner.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with tofu and vegetables. Garnish with remaining green portions of green onions and sesame seeds. Bon appétit!
