  1. 1

    Roast the Fries

Cut potatoes into 1/4" fries and pat dry.

Place fries on prepared baking sheet and toss with 4 tsp. olive oil, cornstarch, piri piri seasoning (use less if spice-averse), and a pinch of pepper. Spread into a single layer.

Roast in hot oven until browned, 35-40 minutes, tossing once halfway through.

    Carefully remove from oven.

    While fries roast, continue recipe.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, garlic and parsley seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.

Halve and peel onion. Slice halves into thin strips.

Pat steak strips dry. Coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Season all over with a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

    Cook the Onions

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

Add onions to hot pan and stir occasionally until browned, 10-12 minutes.

If pan becomes dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

    Remove from burner.

    While onions cook, continue recipe.

  4. 4

Toast Rolls and Cook Steak Strips

Open rolls and spray cut-sides with cooking spray.

Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat. Place rolls, cut-side down, in hot, dry pan. Toast until slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Transfer rolls to a clean work surface. Keep pan over medium heat; no need to wipe clean.

Add 1 tsp. olive oil and steak strips to hot pan. Stir occasionally until no pink remains and steak strips reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

Stir in mushroom base until combined, 30-60 seconds.

Remove from burner. Rest, 3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Toast Paninis and Finish Dish

Evenly spread cream cheese mixture on cut-sides of bottom rolls.

Evenly fill rolls with onions, steak strips, then shredded cheese. Wrap each panini with foil and place directly on oven rack.

Toast in hot oven until cheese is melted, 5-7 minutes.

Carefully remove from oven and remove foil. Plate dish as pictured on front of card. Bon appétit!
