Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Prepare Ingredients and Make Crema
Cut plantains into 1/2" pieces.
Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.Drain and rinse beans in a colander/ strainer.In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, dressing (to taste), and a pinch of salt. Set aside. -
2 Start the Beef and Plantain Mixture
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add plantains and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until slightly browned, 3-5 minutes.Transfer plantains to a plate. Keep pan over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
3 Finish the Beef and Plantain Mixture
Add ground beef and poblanos (use less if spice-averse) to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Drain any excess liquid, if desired. Pan will be hot! Use caution.Add plantains, beans, taco seasoning, tomatoes, and half the garlic salt (reserve remaining for rice). Stir occasionally until combined and beans are heated through, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner.While beef and plantain mixture cooks, continue recipe. -
4 Heat Rice and Finish Dish
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging.
Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl.Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes.Stir in softened butter (to taste) and remaining garlic salt until combined. Fluff rice with a fork.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with ground beef and plantain mixture. Garnish with crema and cheese. Bon appétit!
