Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Start the Chicken

    Pat chicken dry and season both sides with 1 tsp. olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Massage oil and seasonings into chicken. Place on one side of provided tray.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.

    Chicken will finish cooking in a later step.

    While chicken bakes, continue recipe.

    Add the Rice

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Combine rice, bacon, edamame, minced garlic and chili pepper (to taste), umami seasoning, and garlic salt in a mixing bowl.

    After 10 minutes, carefully remove tray from oven.

    Transfer rice mixture to empty side of tray. Cover rice side of tray with foil.

    Bake Meal and Heat Sauce

    Bake half-covered (chicken uncovered, rice covered) in hot oven until rice is heated through and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 10-15 minutes.

    While meal bakes, place BBQ sauce and butter in a microwave-safe bowl.

    Microwave uncovered until butter is melted, 15-30 seconds.

    Carefully remove from microwave and stir to combine. Set aside.

    Carefully remove tray from oven.

    To serve, top chicken with sauce. Bon appétit!
