Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Mince garlic. Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into ¼" dice. Pat pork roast dry.

    Cool the Meal

    Place slow cooker liner in slow cooker, if desired. Fold top edges in before putting on lid. Combine tomatoes, beef demi-glace, seasoning blend, garlic, onion, red wine, pork roast, ½ tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper in a clean slow cooker. Turn slow cooker on to low heat. Cover, and cook until pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 6-8 hours.

    Cook the Pasta

    When meal has 30 minutes left to cook, bring a medium pot with 8 cups water and 2 tsp. salt to a boil. Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 12-13 minutes. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.

    Finish the Dish

    Carefully transfer pork roast to a plate or bowl and shred into bite-sized pieces. Stir shredded pork and any accumulated juices, cheese spread, and pasta into slow cooker. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing with Parmesan. Bon appétit!
