Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using Italian sausage, break up sausage until no pink remains and sausage reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Break pasta into 2" pieces using hands.
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 7-9 minutes.Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain and rinse pasta in a colander/strainer. Set aside.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Zucchini
Trim zucchini ends and grate into a mixing bowl. Add 1/4 tsp. salt and stir to combine. Rest, 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, drain any excess liquid. Set aside. -
3 Cook the Turkey
Place a medium oven-safe non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground turkey, Italian seasoning, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and turkey reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 7-9 minutes. -
4 Start the Skillet
Add 1 tsp . olive oil, zucchini, garlic and parsley seasoning, and red pepper flakes (to taste) to hot pan. Stir often until combined and zucchini is tender, 3-4 minutes.
Add tomato sauce and pasta. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir often until sauce is slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.If too thick, add reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner. -
5 Broil Skillet and Finish Dish
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine cream cheese, 1/4 cup water, 2/3 the flour (remaining is yours to use as you please!), shredded cheese, and a pinch of salt.
Microwave uncovered until heated through, 1-2 minutes, stirring once halfway through.Carefully remove from microwave and stir to combine.Evenly top pasta with cheese mixture.Broil under hot broiler until cheese topping is bubbling, 4-5 minutes.Carefully remove from oven. Pan handle will be hot! Use an oven mitt. Bon appétit!
