Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using antibiotic free chicken, pat dry. Cook until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes per side.

  • If using filets mignon or sirloin steaks, pat dry. Cook until steak reaches desired doneness, or 4-6 minutes per side for medium/medium-well. Rest, 3 minutes. Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

    Cook the Rice

    Bring a small pot with rice, 1 1/4 cups water, and half the fiesta seasoning (reserve remaining for vegetables) to a boil.

    Once boiling, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook until rice is tender, 15-18 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Stir in 1 tsp. lime zest (prepared in a later step) and 1 tsp. lime juice (prepared in a later step) until combined. Cover and set aside to keep warm.

    While rice cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.

    Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1/4" slices.

    Zest and halve lime. Cut one half into wedges and juice the other half.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" slices.

    In a mixing bowl, combine chimichurri seasoning and softened butter. Set aside.

    Pat steaks dry. Season both sides with garlic salt and a pinch of pepper.

    Cook the Steaks

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add steaks to hot pan. Cook cook until steaks reach desired doneness, or 3-5 minutes per side for medium/medium-well.

    Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

    Remove from burner. Transfer steaks to a plate. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    While steaks cook, continue recipe.

    Cook the Vegetables

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add onions, peppers, remaining fiesta seasoning, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until vegetables are slightly browned and tender, 6-8 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Stir in 1 tsp. lime juice until combined.

    While vegetables cook, continue recipe.

    Cook Beans and Finish Dish

    Return medium non-stick pan used to cook steaks to high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add black beans and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until heated through, 1-2 minutes.

    Add chipotle crema and stir often until coated, 30-45 seconds.

    Remove from burner.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with steak, vegetables, and beans. Garnish steak with chimichurri butter. Squeeze lime wedges over to taste. Slice steak, if desired. Bon appétit!
