Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1/4" dice.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.

    Start the Filling

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 Tbsp. olive oil, bell pepper, onion, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 6-8 minutes.

    Finish the Filling

    Add ground beef and garlic salt to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Add tomato puree, BBQ sauce, 1/2 cup water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce has thickened, 3-5 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Heat Rolls and Finish Dish

    Wrap French rolls in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    Carefully remove from microwave.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, placing cheese and pickles on each roll, then topping with filling. Garnish with crispy jalapeños (to taste). Bon appétit!
