Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

If using Impossible burger, break up until burger reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Ingredients
Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.
Mince garlic. -
3 Cook the Italian Sausage and Mushrooms
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Add mushrooms and garlic and stir occasionally until mushrooms begin to soften, 2-3 minutes. -
4 Add the Sauce
Add flour to hot pan and stir until no dry flour remains. Add wine and stir occasionally until mostly evaporated, 30-60 seconds.
Add 1/4 cup reserved pasta cooking water, tomato sauce, a pinch of salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, add cooked pasta and half the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish) and stir until combined and pasta is coated, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner. If sauce is too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached. -
5 Finish the Dish
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with remaining cheese and red pepper flakes (to taste). Bon appétit!
