A note about serious food allergies
We all know what the classic, go-to pork pizza topping is: those perfectly round, red discs of pure cured meat, pepperoni. (We will also accept sausage as an answer.) But this carnitas flatbread promotes the pig in a whole new way. Ground pork is seasoned with feisty taco seasoning, sweet corn, and garlic. Lime crema on the bottom balances the flavors perfectly. Go-tos, get lost. Tip: Make quick work of mincing garlic by smashing the whole clove with the side of your chef's knife. Then rock the knife back and forth, keeping the tip steady by resting your other hand over the top.
Due to our just-in-time sourcing model, we may have to send you a
substitute ingredient. Not to worry! We make sure every ingredient
sent to you meets our high quality standards. We’ll keep you
informed should a switch occur, so please check the ingredient
labels in your meal bag.
You Will Need
Large Non-Stick Pan
Before You Cook
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
Seafood 145° F |
Chicken 165° F |
Ground Beef 160° F |
Ground Turkey 165° F |
Ground Pork 160° F
Prepare the Ingredients
Halve lime. Cut one half into wedges and juice the other half.
Cook the Pork
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add ground pork to hot pan. Stir often, breaking up meat, until beginning to brown, 3-4 minutes.
Add seasoning blend, corn, and garlic. Stir occasionally until no pink remains on pork and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 2-3 minutes.
Stir in marinara sauce. Remove from burner.
While pork cooks, make lime crema.
Make the Lime Crema
In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, 2 tsp. lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
Broil Flatbreads and Finish Dish
Place flatbreads on prepared baking sheet. Place baking sheet under hot broiler. Broil until beginning to brown around edges, 2-3 minutes.
Keep an eye on oven as flatbreads may burn easily under broiler.
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping flatbreads with lime crema, pork mixture, cheese, and crispy jalapeños (to taste). Squeeze lime wedges over to taste. Bon appétit!
