Before You Cook
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into ¼" dice.
Stem, seed, remove ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1" dice.
Cut mushrooms into ¼" slices.
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
"Heat a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
Add 1 tsp. olive oil and Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes." Transfer to a plate, and wipe pan clean.
Place a large non-stick pan back over medium-high heat. Add 1 tsp. olive oil and bell pepper and onion to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 5-8 minutes. Add mushrooms and garlic salt, cook until light brown stirring occasionally, 4-5 min. Transfer to plate and wipe pan clean.

Place large non stick pan back over medium high heat. Add 3 tsp of olive oil and flour. Stir to combine. Add cream cheese, chicken broth base, and 1 c water. Stir continuously until sauce comes to a simmer. Simmer until it coats the back of a spoon, 2-3 min. Remove from burner and stir in half Swiss cheese a little at a time until thoroughly incorporated and melted forming a creamy sauce. Season with a pinch of pepper.
Add veg, sausage,and pasta to sauce and stir to coat. Top with remaining cheese and place under the broiler until golden brown over top, 5-8 min. Carefully remove from oven and serve. Bon Appetit!
