  • 1 Colander
  • 1 Mixing Bowl

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Cook the Pasta

    Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 9-10 minutes.

    Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.

    Reserve pot; no need to wipe clean.

    While pasta boils, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Coarsely chop spinach

    Trim zucchini and cut into 1/4" dice.

    Mince parsley; no need to stem.

    Mince garlic.

    In a mixing bowl, combine flour and 2 cups water. Stir until flour dissolves. Set aside.

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    Cook the Sausage

    Return pot used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add Italian sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pot over medium-high heat.

    Cook the Zucchini

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil, zucchini, garlic, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pot.

    Stir occasionally until lightly browned and tender, 4-6 minutes.

    Transfer zucchini to plate with sausage. Keep pot over medium-high heat.

    Add Broth and Pasta and Finish Dish

    Add pasta cooking water, chicken base, and marinara to hot pot. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, slowly pour flour-water mixture into pot, stirring constantly until combined. Stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 4-5 minutes.

    Add sausage, zucchini, pasta, and spinach. Stir occasionally until spinach is wilted, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with cheese and parsley. Bon appétit!
