Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Drain beans.
Peel, trim, and cut carrot into 1/4" dice.Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice. -
2 Crisp the Bacon
Line a plate with a paper towel.
Place a large pot over medium-high heat.Add bacon to hot, dry pot and stir often until crisp, 1-2 minutes.Transfer to towel-lined plate.Keep pot over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
3 Cook the Pork
Add 2 tsp. olive oil, ground pork, onion, carrot, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot.
Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes. -
4 Add the Broth
Add chile and cumin rub, chili powder, 1/4 tsp. salt, tomato puree, diced tomatoes, beans, and 11/4 cups water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 5-8 minutes.Remove from burner. -
5 Finish the Dish
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing with crema and crisped bacon. Bon appétit!
