Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • Meatlovers! If using protein, cook in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat with 1 tsp. olive oil.

  • If using antibiotic free chicken, pat dry. Cook until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes per side.

  • If using filets mignon or sirloin steaks, pat dry. Cook until steak reaches desired doneness, or 4-6 minutes per side for medium/medium-well. Rest, 3 minutes. Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

  • If using salmon, pat dry. Add salmon, skin-side up first, and cook until salmon reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes per side.

  • Add protein to meal as desired.

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.

Halve and peel onions. Cut halves into 1/4" slices.

    Mince chives.

    Mince garlic.

    Stem and finely chop thyme.

  2. 2

    Cook the Onions

Place a medium pot over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

Add onions and a pinch of salt to hot pot. Stir occasionally until browned and slightly caramelized, 12-14 minutes.

If pan is dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

  3. 3

    Add the Garlic and Mushrooms

Add garlic, mushrooms, 1/2 tsp. thyme, and a pinch of salt to hot pot. Stir occasionally until garlic is fragrant, 1-2 minutes.

Add flour and stir occasionally until no dry flour remains.

  4. 4

    Add the Broth

Add cooking wine to hot pot. Stir occasionally until combined, 1-2 minutes.

Add 2 cups water, mirepoix base, mushroom base, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, stir occasionally until mushrooms are tender, 8-10 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

  5. 5

    Broil Roll and Finish Dish

Open roll and separate halves. Halve widthwise.

Place roll halves on prepared baking sheet, cut-side up, and evenly top with softened butter, then cheese.

Broil under hot broiler until cheese is melted and slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as cheese may burn easily under broiler.

    Carefully remove from oven.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with cheesy toast. Garnish with chives. Bon appétit!
