Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

1 Cook the Peppers and Onions
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add pepper and onion mix to hot pan. Stir occasionally until slightly tender, 4-6 minutes.If pan is dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed. -
2 Add the Pork
Add ground pork to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes.
Drain any excess liquid from pan. Pan will be hot! Use caution. -
3 Add the Tomatoes and Seasoning
Stir 2/3 the minced garlic and parsley (reserve remaining for rice), tomatoes, 3/4 the chimichurri seasoning (reserve remaining for crema), and 1/2 tsp. salt into hot pan. Bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, remove from burner.While pork and vegetables cook, continue recipe. -
4 Heat Rice, Make Crema, and Finish Dish
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine rice and remaining minced garlic and parsley. Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.While rice microwaves, in a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, remaining chimichurri seasoning, a pinch of salt, and 1 Tbsp. water. Set aside.Carefully remove rice from microwave. Add lemon juice, softened butter, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Stir to combine and fluff rice with a fork.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with pork and vegetables. Garnish with crema and cheese. Bon appétit!
