- 1 9" x 13" Casserole Dish
- 1 Large Non-Stick Pan
- 1 Colander/Strainer
Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook Pasta and Prepare Ingredients
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside.While pasta cooks, remove puff pastry from refrigerator. Remove any paper between puff pastry squares, if necessary. If paper is sticking, place puff pastry in freezer until firm, 5 minutes. Cut into 1" pieces and return to refrigerator.Stem and coarsely chop basil. -
2 Cook the Sausage
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
3 Add the Sauce and Pasta
Add marinara, tomato sauce, and 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.If too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Add pasta and stir occasionally until coated, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner. -
4 Assemble the Casserole
Transfer pasta to prepared casserole dish and spread into an even layer. Pan will be hot! Use a utensil.
Remove puff pastry from refrigerator.Evenly top pasta with cheese, puff pastry, then pepperoni. -
5 Bake Casserole and Finish Dish
Bake in hot oven until puff pastry is golden-brown and pasta is bubbling, 15-20 minutes.
Carefully remove from oven. Casserole dish will be hot! Use caution.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping casserole with basil. Bon appétit!
