Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Stem thyme and mince.
Halve and peel shallot. Cut halves into 1/4" dice. -
2 Start the Filling
Place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground beef, shallots, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.While beef cooks, place carrots in a microwave-safe bowl and cover with a damp paper towel. Microwave covered until tender, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. -
3 Finish the Filling
Add carrots, tomato puree, half the thyme (reserve remaining for potatoes), and flour to hot pan. Stir often until no dry flour remains.
Stir in 1/2 cup water, soy sauce, chicken base, and creme fraiche until combined. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir in peas until combined.Remove from burner. Transfer filling to prepared casserole dish and spread into an even layer. -
4 Add Toppings, Broil Pie, and Finish Dish
Top filling with mashed potatoes and spread into an even layer. Top evenly with cheese, remaining thyme, and a pinch of pepper.
Broil under hot broiler until topping browns, 3-5 minutes.Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as potatoes may burn easily under broiler.Carefully remove from broiler. Rest, 3 minutes.Plate dish as pictured on front of card. Bon appétit!
