Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    prep

    cut onion in half and slice 1/8th inch thick slices, julienne

    stem and seed pepper, cut into strips 1/4 inch thick

    crush crispy onions

    cooking the filling

    In a large non stick pan heat 1 t olive oil over medium heat and add peppers and onions with 1/4 t salt

    saute for 5 minutes, until tender

    remove from pan, place back on medium high heat and add 2 t olive oil

    add steak strips and blackening spice

    brown for 2-4 minutes

    add peppers and onions back to pan with demi, 2T water and butter

    cook down until reduced by 3/4 and sauce thickens

    toast tortilas

    while the steak mixture cooks wrap tortillas in foil and place in oven at 400 degrees for 5 minutes, until warm and pliable
