    Place candy canes in a plastic bag and break into small pieces using a heavy-bottomed pot. Save a pinch for garnish.

    Except for reserved pinch of crushed candy canes, place all ingredients in blender along with 2 cups ice. Blend on high for 3 minutes.

    Pour smoothie into 2 glasses and sprinkle reserved candy cane garnish on top. Candy canes have been around since the late 17th century and their shape is said to represent a shepherd's crook. Their traditional peppermint flavor is a natural pairing for cocoa.
