Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat with 1 tsp. olive oil until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using diced chicken thighs, pat dry. Stir occasionally in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat with 1 tsp. olive oil until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes. Don't worry about trimming. Excess fat will render while cooking and add flavor.

    Start the Peppers

    Add mixed peppers and 1 tsp. olive oil to provided tray. Massage oil into peppers and spread into an even layer.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until tender, 6-8 minutes.

    Carefully remove from oven.

    Add the Ground Beef and Sauce

    Add ground beef, a pinch of salt and pepper, adobo seasoning, garlic salt, tomato sauce, and sofrito sauce to tray with peppers. Stir to combine, breaking ground beef into bite-sized pieces. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 17-20 minutes.

    While beef mixture bakes, continue recipe.

    Add Plantains and Cheese and Finish Meal

    Using the flat side of an object, press down gently to smash each plantain until 1/2" thick.

    Carefully remove tray from oven.

    Evenly top beef mixture with plantains, then shredded cheese. Tray will be hot! Use caution.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until plantains are browned and cheese is melted, 5-7 minutes.

    Carefully remove from oven. Bon appétit!
