1 Prepare the Ingredients
Stem, seed, remove ribs, and cut green bell pepper into 1/4" dice.
Coarsely chop pepperoni.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
2 Cook the Sausage
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil, Italian sausage, and pepperoni to hot pan.
Break sausage into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Carefully drain fat from pan, if desired. -
3 Make the Slaw
In a mixing bowl, combine slaw mix, dressing, and a pinch of salt. Stir vigorously until thoroughly combined. Set aside.
-
4 Make the Sauce
Add green bell pepper and a pinch of pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 2-3 minutes.
Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains, 60-90 seconds.Add marinara and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir constantly until sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon, 2-3 minutes. Remove from burner. -
5 Heat Rolls and Finish Dish
Place rolls directly on oven rack in hot broiler. Broil until beginning to brown around edges, 1-2 minutes.
Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as rolls may burn easily under broiler.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom roll with sausage mixture, cheese, and top roll. You may also add slaw on sandwich, if desired. Bon appétit!
