Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Break pasta into smaller pieces.
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 6-8 minutes.Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside.Wipe pot clean and reserve. -
2 Cook the Sausage
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
Return pot used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.Add sausage and kale to hot pot. Break sausage into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
3 Add the Flour
Add flour to hot pot and stir until no dry flour remains.
Add 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water. Stir to combine and bring to simmer. -
4 Add the Sauce
Once simmering, add creme fraiche, pesto, garlic salt, and Parmesan to hot pot. Stir occasionally until combined and sauce is slightly thickened, 3-5 minutes.
If too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached. -
5 Add Pasta and Finish Dish
Add pasta to hot pot. Stir occasionally until coated and heated through, 2-3 minutes.
Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with mozzarella. Bon appétit!
