Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook Pasta and Prepare Ingredients
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer. Set aside.While pasta cooks, mince parsley (no need to stem).Quarter tomatoes. If you receive one whole tomato instead, not to worry; simply core tomato, cut into 1/2" dice, and proceed with recipe instructions.Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate. -
2 Cook the Sausage
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add white portions of green onions and Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
3 Add the Sauce
Add tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir often until combined, 1-2 minutes.
Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains.Add 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water and cream base. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 2-4 minutes.If too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time and up to 1/4 cup, until desired consistency is reached. -
4 Add the Pasta
Add pasta to hot pan. Stir often until combined and pasta is heated through, 1-2 minutes.
Remove from burner.While sauce and pasta cook, continue recipe. -
5 Toast Panko and Finish Dish
Place a small non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add panko to hot pan and stir often until slightly toasted, 30-60 seconds.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with panko, parsley, and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
