Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

1 Prepare the Mac and Cheese and Sausage
Turn oven on to 425 degrees. Let preheat, at least 10 minutes. Thoroughly rinse any fresh produce and pat dry.
In one provided tray, combine pasta, cream base, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 tsp. salt, garlic salt, cheddar, and Parmesan. Cover tray with foil.In second provided tray, combine pepper and onion mix, 2 tsp. olive oil, BBQ spice rub (use less if spice-averse), and a pinch of salt and pepper.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. Break up into bite-sized pieces and top vegetables in an even layer. -
2 Start the Meal
Bake both trays (mac and cheese covered, sausage uncovered) in hot oven, 15 minutes.
Sausage will finish cooking in a later step.After 15 minutes, carefully remove both trays from oven. Drain excess liquid from sausage tray. Add half the BBQ sauce (reserve remaining for post-bake) and stir to combine. Cover tray with foil.Stir mac and cheese to combine. Cover tray with foil. -
3 Bake Meal and Add Sauce
Bake both trays again covered in hot oven until mac and cheese is bubbling and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 10-12 minutes.
Carefully remove both trays from oven and stir mac and cheese to combine. Add remaining BBQ sauce (using a clean utensil) to sausage tray and stir to combine.To serve, top mac and cheese with sausage mixture and crispy onions. Bon appétit!
