Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, cook until loaves reach minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes per side.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Mince chives.

    Halve and peel onion. Slice halves into thin strips.

    In a mixing bowl, combine panko, ground beef, demi-glace, half the onion salt (reserve remaining for gravy), and a pinch of pepper. Form mixture into four equally-sized, oval-shaped loaves, about 3" in length and 2" by height.

    Cook the Loaves

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

    Add meatloaves to hot, dry pan. Cook until lightly charred and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

    Transfer meatloaves to a plate. Keep pan over medium heat; no need to wipe clean.

    Cook the Onions

    Add 2 tsp. olive oil and onions to hot pan. Stir occasionally until browned, 8-10 minutes.

    If pan becomes dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

    Make Gravy and Add Loaves

    Add flour to hot pan and stir occasionally until no dry flour remains.

    Add 2 cups water, mushroom base , remaining onion salt, and half the creme fraiche (reserve remaining for mashed potatoes). Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, reduce heat to medium and stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 3-4 minutes.

    If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Add meatloaves and flip until coated, 3-4 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While gravy cooks, continue recipe.

    Heat Mashed Potatoes and Finish Dish

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine mashed potatoes, remaining creme fraiche, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Vigorously stir to combine.

    Microwave uncovered until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave and vigorously stir to combine.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping meatloaf with gravy. Garnish dish with chives. Bon appétit!
