Cooking Guidelines

If using 16 oz. Italian sausage, follow same instructions as 8 oz. Italian sausage, working in batches, if necessary.

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Follow same instructions as Italian sausage in Step 3, stirring occasionally until browned and chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using shrimp, pat dry and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Follow same instructions as Italian sausage in Step 3, cooking until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

If using steak strips, spread into a single layer, pat dry, coarsely chop, and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Follow same instructions as Italian sausage in Step 3, stirring occasionally until no pink remains and steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.
Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander and set aside.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
Prepare the Ingredients
Trim bottom end from broccolini and cut into 1" lengths.
Halve and peel onion. Thinly slice one half (remaining half is yours to use as you please!).Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
Cook the Sausage
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil and Italian sausage to hot pan. Break up into small pieces until browned and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pan over medium-high heat. -
Add the Vegetables, Sauce, and Pasta
Add 1 tsp. olive oil, broccolini, and onion to hot pan. Stir occasionally until slightly tender, 5-7 minutes.
Add marinara, softened cream cheese, half the reserved pasta cooking water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, add pasta and sausage. Stir until combined, 30-60 seconds.If too thick, add remaining pasta cooking water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner. -
Finish the Dish
