Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

1 Prepare the Onion
Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.

2 Cook the Beef and Onions
Place a large oven-safe non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and onions to hot, dry pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes.Carefully drain any excess liquid from pan, if desired. Pan will be hot! Use a utensil. -
3 Add the Sauces
Add tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, and savory seasoning to hot pan. Stir often until combined, 2-3 minutes.
Remove from burner.While beef mixture cooks, continue recipe. -
4 Assemble the Mac and Cheese
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine cream base, ranch seasoning, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/4 cup water, and mild cheddar.
Microwave uncovered until cheese is melted, 2-3 minutes, stirring once halfway through.Carefully remove from microwave. Stir in pasta and a pinch of salt until combined. -
5 Broil Beef Mac and Cheese and Finish Dish
Evenly top beef mixture with mac and cheese, then white cheddar.
Broil under hot broiler until cheese is melted and pasta is heated through, 2-3 minutes.Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as cheese may burn easily under broiler.Carefully remove from oven. Pan handle will be hot! Use an oven mitt.Serve family-style. Bon appétit!
